Power shaft for 205 Gyromower

I just purchased a 205 Gyromower to cut weeds and light brush with. The 2 halves of the shaft are stuck together and no amount of pounding or brute force that I can muster has been able to separate them. I think it might be slightly twisted or bent. The guard that is on it is slightly crimped. So what I am looking for is a complete shaft with PTO guards. I really don't want to order it the Johnny Cash way, "one piece at a time".

I have been doing some searching but have not found one yet. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Just hit a farm supply store and order an entire new class 6 pto shaft. You can be certain that the entire old shaft has been stressed by what ever twisted the telescoping sections together.

Dang b&d how can you tell by looking in your computer monitor that Orrin's pto shaft is twisted. I tried to see the twist but the safety shield was blocking my view.

Cut the shield off and see if the shaft halves can be salvaged. New shields are available from DEERE and many aftermarket sources.

Or, check out Surplus Center, with your dimensions. They MAY have a complete unit that would fit.

Never got the shaft apart. It is twisted and the guard is not in the best of shape. So, I am going to look for a new or used power input shaft and guard.

I intend to start with the usual suspects, Farm & Fleet, and Tractor Supply. If any of you on the board have some suggestions I would like to hear them. Located near Sauk City, WI.

Many thanks to those who already replied, I read your posts carefully.

UPDATE
I had asked McFarlanes of Sauk City, WI to take a look at the power shaft this morning. Hank the service writer had one of the techs check it out and confirmed that it was junk. I asked Hank for some suggestions and he said let's look in the junk pile.

We searched for 10 minutes and came up with 2 halves of a like new shaft that will match up and work just fine. I can't say enough good things about how they helped me out this afternoon. He sold it to me for a very reasonable price. Hank and McFarlanes are very good people to do business with.
