The 1020 has a hand throttle as well as a foot feed. The hand throttle will not stay in any set position, as soon as you let go it flips back to idle. You can maintain the throttle position and rpm if you keep your foot on the foot feed but that's a pain when running equipment. I've tighted up the nut on the underside of the throttle handle (in the battery box area) but that has not helped much if any. JD says there are a couple of friction discs on that shaft--so maybe those are worn. The problem is JD wants like $75 each for them. Is this the likely problem and is there an aftermarket product to replace those friction washers? $125 is quite a bit to "see if that is the problem".

The friction disks are part number T22696. I put some on a 2120 a couple years ago and they certainly were a lot less than that maybe 15 or 20 bucks. Take the hand throttle and remove the roll pin below the disks and make sure the piece that compress the friction disks are free to move up and down the throttle shaft. Worth a try....Ron

Parts keys 3 & 19 are same part numbers.
