are you getting plenty fuel out of the tank, to the supply pump, sometimes the shutof valve under the tank will clogg up! make sure you have plenty supply, good luck!

It sure sounds like the return fuel line is plugged some where, pull the return line off at the pump and run it ,it will leak a little but won't hurt anything, and see if it keeps running,,a normal place for them to plug is in the elbow behind the generator, and the check valve comming out of the pump..

I took the fuel return off and blew it out.started the tractor with line off it started to pump fuel Hooked everything up and seems to be running good.

When fuel cannot get out of the injection pump, it
pressurizes internally until that pressure is
equal to incoming fuel pressure. Then it
essentially runs out of fuel because it has too
much fuel.

Run it with injection pump cover cracked loose so it cannot build pressure, see if it keeps running.

Since the IP have been rebuilt, INTERNAL debris shouldn't be a problem.

Remove the return line from the pump and see if it will run with the return free-flowing out of the pump.

The other guy said to loosen the "cover", by which I would ASSUME he means the little timing window cover held on with 2 screws.

(Take usual precautions to catch fuel/have fire extinguisher at hand.)

I assume the tractor sat for a good year or two and the guy that bought it installed a new IP, But transfer lift pump was old and wore so it failed and sent trash through the lines and blocked the return line still had a small amount of flow but not enough.

so after replacing the filter and new lift pump cleared all the lines bleed all the air out fired rite up so my issue was solved.

My problems with Old Johnny started the day I replaced the original type transfer pump with filter to the newer style pump without a filter. After spending a few dollars on a rubber gas line and a fuel filter, cleaning up the carb bowl things got better. Its amazing how much junk collects in a gas tank after 50 or so years!
