Offset disk for a JD 620

Hello
I was wondering if anyone has done it or would have a good idea as to what size and model offset disk a JD 620 could pull in loam soil? Thanks in advance!

A 620 will have a full load with a 12 to a 14 foot conventional disk, I would think with the extra weight of an offset, 8 foot would probably be plenty. JMHO.

Hayrack is right. I don't know your ground, but if I was buying one for my 620 or 630, I'd be looking in that 6 to 8 foot range. I worked years ago for a fellow with a 856 and 12 foot offset. Always felt sorry for that tractor after a days work on that machine.

I have a 10' Eversman that I pull sometimes with my 70 (basically same HP as a 620) it is almost too much in plowed ground.

On Soft (loose) ground Discing, you are always better off with Duals..
Always pulled an IH 10' disc & Harrow in 3rd with our WD-45 AC and it never labored..
Your 620 should handle more, but not a lot more..

When I was a kid I worked for a guy that had a 49 A and we pulled a 12 disk (I think) oneway. He traded it for a Case offset disk. Both were just wide enough to cover the width of the tires. I don't remember one being any harder to pull than the other.

This is a 630 but really the same . I pull this disc with a row crop 630 also . We have silt loam soil here . Disc is a 11' 6" model RWA with 18" blades . Gears choice is 2,3 or 4 depending on how loose the soil is . The spot you are looking at is a bean field that has not been worked . Does a decent job usually .

Dave,
Your soil does look similar to what I farm now. I have a 10ft disk harrow like yours, but not as heavily built as what yours looks like. I did add some weight to mine this fall and it did a much better job. How much do you farm with your 630?
