Not tractor related but thought you guys might know

I have a Stihl 260 chain saw that cuts off after
it runs for a couple of minutes. Starts right back
up and will do it off an on again while using it.
Not so bad after it warms up. I haven't had it
apart so I don't know if it has a fuel filter
which could be the culprit.

Got a Stihl that does that too and I have had it apart and it's the molded gas line from the tank to the carb that has a hole in it and it is a Stihl ONLY part and you can't order it online. You have to find a Stihl stealership and buy it there at outrageous mark up no doubt. Why else would they have such a protection scheme in place? Our dealer is a 200 mile round trip, it's not my saw and they won't do it so it just sits there year after year for at least six years now. I've actually forgot the exact model but it's a low one 240 or 260 something like that.

I have a Stihl string trimmer with similar issues. Gave me fits from the time it was brand new. Took it back to the dealer several times, but of course, it would never act up for him. I eventually learned that loosening the fuel cap just a bit would keep it running, so I drilled a tiny hole in it. End of problem.

I have several stihl saws the problem could be the filter which is located on the end of the fuel line.long nose pliers will grab the hose to get it out. if the saw has a lot of hours on it could be the crank shaft seals or a leak in the impulse line.

I've been told some of these where built for Ca emissions and there is something u can take out that solves the problem can't remember what it is though maybe someone else knows
