Can the use of teflon tape on fittings cause any hydraulic system problems?

Yes it can if excess gets into the system..just be careful in how it screws together..keep it from being over the end of the fitting..

Wrap the tape the same direction as the threads, clockwise when looking at the end of the fitting. Start at the back of the threads and wrap toward the end and stop one or two threads short. This keeps any Teflon from contaminating the system.

Just for interest sake, is there a 'pipe dope' that could be used rather than Teflon tape ? HPH
