Should the carb on 1936 A be painted on not. The paint on mine wants to bubble and peel off which makes me wonder if they were meant to be painted. I cannot visually see any gas leaks that is causing this but every time I touch up it will eventually happen again. Any suggestions.

I have painted all of mine and none has come off. I buff my carb with a wire wheel and put strait paint on it no primer. Maybe there's something your paint is reacting to causing it to bubble. I would strip it with a wire wheel and clean it with thinner and paint it.

In that (I think) it is made of cast iron, you could try soaking it with acetone or lacquer thinner a couple of times. With cast iron any oil on the item will 'soak in' and not allow paint to adhere. HTH

It don't matter, whether you paint it or not, its your tractor and you can do as you wish.
