JD M adjustable front axel

Any suggestions on how to "unstick" an adjustable font axel? One side is free. The other side may be rusted in place. I didn't want to pull too hard on the wheel spindle for fear of bending it. I tried some force with a hammer and a pipe wrench to turn it but no luck.

You can spray it inside and out with pb blaster and give her a good bump every now and then or you can heat the tube. Ain't no easy way. Good luck.

On my 40s what I did was, loosen all the clamps, remove the pin, soak it good in your favorite panther pee and drive it around some and notice if there is any movement, push the front wheel up against a tree, both in front of the wheel then in back of wheel, sea if there is any movement, it might take a while or it might come loose quick, mine took several runs to get it to move.
Be extra careful if it comes loose in a hurry one could wreck the tractor by the front end twisting in the pipe.

The axle for my 620 square tube was a lot of fun. I made brackets to bolt through the open holes in the square tube on one side and the open holes on the axle end for the other. After spraying PB blaster on it for a week or two. I carried it to my neighbors auto body shop with a frame machine. Using the brackets on the tube side to anchor the axle. Then using the brackets on the axle side to pull from. I made another bracket out of I-beam about 5 feet tall anchored to the axle to twist the axle loose. This was the key to twist the axle loose. This frame machine has three pulling towers. One was used to twist the axle. The other two were side by side pulling the axle. This was happing as two torches yes two with rose buds were heating the tube. When it came loose that was a good sound. After getting it loose. I wire brushed the axle ends with a side grinder. Then I used an old cylinder hone to clean the inside of the tube. Of course I painted the never seize on when it was reinstalled. GOOD LUCK!!

Concrete blocks look sound, but they are delicate, they shatter and collapse. Dangerous. I'd use heavy wood cribbing, and I'd do it now.

Thanks. The bottom blocks in the picture are 75 % solid 12's. About 85 pounds each. Used wood cribbing on top. The jack was still there also.

Thanks. Heck of a set up in the pictures to which I don't have access. I guess I will try a block of wood, hammer, heat and pipewrench to see if that will unstick it!
