Note to Bradracer18

Bradracer18: about your two cylinder power steering pump, I learned that, depending on how it is machined, your pump may not allow the use of the "spacer" that supposedly fits in between the two back to back seals on the governor side of the pump shaft. On mine, I found that the only way that the two seals could be put in place was to leave out the spacer and still insert them so that the "open" sides of the seals face each other when installed. Anybody else had this issue? Hugh

IIRC, closed sides of the seals are supposed to butt together, with the garter springs toward the outside. That's how the original double seals were made.

Bob,
I'm not arguing with you but the pump seals I've seen have the garter springs facing each other. The inner one to keep oil in, the outer one to keep air out.
Pete

Ok when harvest gets over, I'm going to dig into it and I'll keep that in mind when tearing it apart so I can see how it was before I learn the hard way!

Thanks!
