730 diesel

Anybody have an estimate on a upper end rebuild of a 730 diesel engine.I found a stuck 730 diesel es and i see a piston kiton the site is almost 700$ any thoughts?

I don't have a 730 but I do know that to overhaul one the right way takes a pile of money

the piston kit is the cheap part...

Kits one thing ,machine shop and bearings,gskt set,your a long way from bottom line

Fuel system gets expensive. Bearings are usually fine. Really depends what it's like now & what you want when done.

What is the reason with the 730 now that makes a rebuild a consideration?
A parade tractor? A puller ? An odd jobs spare tractor on a working farm? The main tractor on your operation to make your living with ?

engine is stuck, I wan't to make a usable tractor
to help out my neighbor when he is doing haying.
I have a gas 730 that was seized that I purchased
from the same salvage yard and I went through the
engine and it ended up getting an upper end
rebuild. I knew of a guy who rebuilt his 720d and
it was never right afterward. I have put lots of
hours on diesels but never had a wrench on the
engines.

Odds are you buddy with the sick 720 missed following the service manual on specifications .
It's always interesting at shows to see "rebuilt" tractors put on the dyno. Plain to see where somebody decided " good enough" or "close enough".
