John Deere Green Paint-or-Tractor Supply Green

Would a person be better of with the(Green & Yellow) paint from Deere?---- or Tractor supply paint?

What is a good primer and color?

posting a friend. Thanks

If JD hasn't lowered the quality of their paint then I'll state JD paint over TSC paint hands down. I think TSC will turn a different color than green if exposed to the sun.

Of those 2 choices go with John Deere paint. It has always worked well for me.
TSC paint is the stuff you used to see blueish tractors.
John Deere buff primer works really nice under the yellow to help it cover better. It's not really a sandable primer though. So on sheetmetal to fill pits something else will be better served.

Just like the others have said. John deere paint hand down. It tends to harden better than the others as well. I have used it with a good gray primer from the auto parts store with great results.

I've heard from lots of people that TSC paint will turn that blueish color after a while. I have used TSC yellow and it's not the same shade as JD yellow.. I used JD paint on mine with some hardner from NAPA and it turns out good . I painted mine AG green which is 45 dollars a gallon yellow is around 20 a quart and 20 for a gallon of thinner at my local JD dealer. It may varry across the country. I don't know how much their classic green is if that is what you want to use. I think TSC paint is a little cheaper but JD would be your best bet.

Five or so years ago I built a small garden
tractor toolbar and painted it Deere green with
rattle cans from TSC or Orschelns (can't remember
which but they sell the same brand). The thing is
often outside as the shed space is reserved for
more valuable stuff. By now it has a definite
blue tint and doesn't look at all like Deere
green.

I hate paint that doesnt come from deere its a bigger mess to clean up it you want it the right color.Oh buy the way you cant clear coat john deere green from deere. If a tractor has clear coat it wasnt john deere green from john deere. And the correct police often dont look at that at tractor shows. So are they really correct police?

What about primer? Does it make a difference if use JD primer or primer from a auto store or tractor supply?

3 to 6 Months, actually, then dissolves away in a couple years (outside).

I know an Artist who has around 50 Gallons of GOOD Name Brand JD Green paint, here in central Ohio who will sell it for only a few dollars/Gallon.

Ron.

One of the surest ways to devalue a tractor is with an average paint good with average paint. It takes about the same amount of time to spray it its the prep work that many forget to do right.

I quit using tsc paint, its trash, they switched over down here to majic, making it no good to me,its a lotta guess work,id use jd green, only thing, the paint can dull out too in a year, but when I did spray clear on it it rippled the paint, but deere don't make a good hardener to go with their paint either, valspar does different things at different times, and the tsc sells the majic kind,i feel lost on all hardeners for now till I fing the perfect one for deere
