On 10/16/2014 the Waterloo Convention and Visitors Bureau announced the John Deere Tractor and Engine Museum will open December 2nd. Open Tuesday - Saturday 10am-6pm. Except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year & Easter. Admission $8.00, Seniors $4.00. I had a preview in May, it will worth a visit.

Jack, that's good to hear. I drove by there yesterday and saw that they are still pouring concrete around the front of the building.

It's been a long time coming, starting with the official news release on May 28, 2010 announcing the beginning of the facility in late 2010 and a scheduled opening in "late 2011".

When that didn't happen, another news release (Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier, 13 Jan 2013) stated they "expected a June 2013 opening", and after that yet another news release (KWWL.com, 14 Mar 2014) came out stating they plan to open the facility in "the spring of 2014".

I'm looking forward to finally seeing it. Thanks for the information.

Jack, it appears you've divulged some secret information.

According to the local newspaper this morning (link below) Deere "would not be pinned down on an exact date" other than early December. And the director of the Waterloo Convention & Visitors Bureau said "That's the same news we've heard", but that "he was asked to decline further comment".

I saw that Chris announced it on the John Deere Two-Cylinder facebook page a couple of days ago.
