Where have all the top links gone?

Seems like a majority of 20 and 30 series John Deere ads say "3 point hitch, no toplink". I don't recall seeing that with any other tractor ads. I just wonder what happened to all those toplinks. Do you think there is a toplink hoarder somewhere in the country or maybe they were made of some strange material that vanishes after 50 years.

Most top links get thrown in the corner of the garage and forgotten about. Usually buried under ten feet of other junk when the time comes to sell or trade the tractor. Most larger tractors only make use of the lift arms for most non-drawbar chores. If you have a quick-hitch then the top link stays with the tractor.

If you don't use the 3pt. the top link is all ways in your way. They get removed and lost or used on another tractor.

I have an allis chalmers top link on the Ford. And the Ford link is somewhere in the shop.

Top links also get broken. I was cleaning out more of Grandpa's junk. Found two broken links for his 4430 and one for his Oliver 1855.

I had some spare center links and started to hang them up in the shed. didnt realize how many I had been collecting over the years. The wall got full, then I was at a guys place and bought a couple truck loads of parts, including a bunch of centerlinks off jd tractors, gota get them hung up. Will eventually sell a few, after making sure I got them on all the tractors. thats where they have gone. they are hangin in the sheds.

That looks like a Top link fetish.

I have never seen that many before, even at a tractor dealer.

Same place where all the 5020 side shields and PTO shields have gone -easy to remove, easily misplaced -probably JD addict has a full selection of these too!
