Hi. I watch the board everyday but I don't get a chance to post much. I wanted to share a few pics of a 730std I picked up this July off of a farm North of Regina SK. I have not touched anything other than put a fuel line on the starting engine. Ive used it in the field about 28hours to date and it has worked great. I just wanted to show some pics of the way I found it before I clean it off in the next few weeks. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Looks like you have a good tractor.

Appears that the previous owner took care of it.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

I agree. It would be a sacriledge to paint that tractor. That is a very nice original tractor. A little cleaning will make it "jump". Mike

It will never be painted as long as I have it. I'm hesitant about even cleaning it off. As far as I know I am third owner. Past owners father owned it since the mid to late 60s. At the time they purchased it the starting engine was overhauled in that backyard of their home in Regina. It was then driven north to the farm and lived in the building behind the tractor in this pic. The son told me the tractor was always stored inside. Claims his dad would park it inside when he would come in for his lunch break. I also receieved the original operators manual with the purchase. Thanks for the compliments on the tractor.

Nice find. I'm jealous. Your Canadian climate isn't as hard on tractors as our more humid Iowa climate. I used to travel through Regina on HWY 1 headed east to Kamsack and also on HWY 6 headed north to Watson and Humboldt, eventually ending up in St.Benedict. Love your country gotta get up there again sometime. Jim

Aaron, sure looks like a nice tractor very
well cared for & should make a good horse.
There is a twin to it sitting not 3 miles from
my Home Near Titusville Pa. But it is a Whole
lot worse shape & I think too far gone to save.

Nice find nonetheless. I'm still jealous. LOL. You might have to be a little more diligent in keeping it looking nice in your more humid air. I brought an original nice looking R down here to Iowa from North Dakota fifteen or twenty years ago and it's showing rust in certain places even though it's inside an unheated dry wooden building 364 days of the year. Jim

That has crossed my mind. It will never spend a night outside
here either but I do worry about the humidity. If anyone has any
ideas on preserving the paint that would be helpful. I will be using the tractor in the
summer months too so it won't exactly be retired.

That's a shame someone would let one rust a way like that but I see it around NE PA all the time. I can think of 2 720elec starts off the top of my head right now that are rusting away and I even found a nickel hole D this past year rusting away. I believe its probably on the original farm that it was bought new...

I've always thought that wiping them down with diesel fuel helped preserve them some. But it attracks dust.

Might consider a good cleaning and then spray it with a clear-coat finish... that would seal the patina and prevent rust as if it was painted. Saw the boys on the TV show Counting Cars do it on a '62 Dodge PU to preserve the original worn finish and it looked great.
