Rear Axle on 4010 JD

Would anybody be able to tell me why a rear axle slips on this tractor? Or point me in the right direction to find out. Even information on how the rear axle is held in. The rear axle on the tractor recently slipped and had to be sent into the shop to be fixed. It has taken quiet awhile for them to fix it and I was just wondering why? What's so complicated about fixing this rear axle?

Explain "Slip" a bit more, the wheel is moving in and out on the axle?? the axle is not turning??

If you mean rear axle slide out of rear housing cap screw(parts key 23) must back out of the end of axle.

Both at first the wheel was going in & out. Then the axle wasn't turning at all. We sent it in to be fixed and it's taking them awhile. We was just wondering why is it so complicated that it takes months to fix? Basically my dad wants to know how the rear axle works & fits into the tractor.

I'll print this out & show him. My parents aren't really technology literate. He just wants to know how the rear axle fits into the tractor and how it works. The mechanics we took the tractor to told him his rear axle had slipped. He wants to know why this happens. It's been months since we took the tractor there and he's thinking they are trying to take advantage of an old man.
