I want to reseal a leaking steering cylinder on my 6420 with MFWD. I can't get the cylinder barrel out of the front axle housing. I've removed the lock ring, removed the oil lines and a short roll pin I fished out of the right hand oil port but I still can't convince the barrel to move. What am I missing? I'd like to know if I've overlooked something before I force it. I have the parts diagram and the only thing I can think of is an O-ring is holding it tight.

Not sure if I am looking at the right cylinder or not in the catalog, but wondering if the threads that the nut (#1?) engage with go back further on the barrel. If so would turning the barrel unthread it from the housing?

You're looking at the right one it's the AS2035 axle. I wondered that and put a pipe wrench on the barrel but it didn't want to move. Maybe I need to use more force. It looks like the barrel threads into the casting by the look of the parts diagram. Thanks for responding I take it you don't encounter problems with these cylinders at the dealership.

I have been away from a dealership for about a year and a half now. Had yet to encounter this issue
