JD B won't move

I just got a 1946 JD B the guy wasn't sure how long it sat. We brought it home rebuilt the carb cleaned the gas tank fuel bowl sanded the points down cleaned the spark plugs and it started. I couldn't believe it. The manifold has a chunk missing out of it that someone tried to patch. So we had it running good sitting in front of the garage. Decided to see if it would move. Clutch felt great put it through all the gears no problems. Drove it a 2-3 laps around the yard had it in 2nd gear all of a sudden something started grinding by the time I pulled the clutch back the tractor had cut off. The tractor started right back up. Now I can shift it into any gear it won't move. The wheels are locked right up. I drained the fluid wasn't very healthy but did have some in it not anywhere near what it was supposed to. I should have checked the fluid first but I didn't even think about it. I didn't expect it to run much less move got caught up in the excitement. Where should I start? I'm thinking a bearing in the trans locked up but really have no idea. I've had Ms and 40s apart but never a B. Thanks

Most likely if you used a brake, it's a brake shelled out. Otherwise the tranny is very simple using a repair manual, it's just time consuming.

If it not a brake, it mat have slipped into 2 gears at once...
If the shifter Detents and/or Springs go bad or fail to activate, the trans can slip out of gear and nothing prevents it from going randomly INTO another one..
If the Shift Lever is not moving anything and won't travel full-range around the Quadrant, you will need to take the steering shaft out the Front and lift the steering tower (with Quadrant) to see where the shift gates are and reposition them for Neutral..
If this is what happened, REPAIR it, before it wrecks the entire Trans..

Thanks for all the advice and help. I took the brakes off, no problem with them. So then I took the shifter and cover off. Figured out it was the bearing on the right side of the tractor that goes into the reduction cover. Fixed that, now it's moving and running around great. Glad that's all it was.
