3020 oil gauge

Idiot light on my 3020 didn't work and I wasn't comfortable with only that anyway, so went to NAPA and bought a gauge. I've installed it and it seems to work fine, BUT it has a clear oil line and I see that the oil is not solid--meaning there seems to be air between oil in many places.
QUESTION: Is this normal?/Okay? If not, how in the world would I ever get it to be solid oil??? I think that if I had a solid copper line, I'd have never noticed the "spaces" between the oil in the line, yes??? Quit worrying???

It's ok that way,, you can loosen the line at the gauge and bleed the air out,,but I would get the plastic line off of it and put a copper line on,, the plastic gets brittle and breaks...
