i have a 4010 gas that just dies but will start right back up. i have tried new coil checked the gas flow also have ignitor on it. any ideas would be great. i'm getting very mad at it

Do you mean it starts while starter is engaged and dies when the key is released ? If so the ign. side of the switch is bad ,and/or the wire to the coil is bad. The starter bypasses the switch and puts 12 volts to the coil while cranking . depending on serial no. This could be a bad resistor on the switch or a bad resistor wire to the coil. However you say electronic ign. is on there. Is it wired so their is 12 volts to it ?

yes there is 12 volts to it and have also put new ignition switch in it. it can be running for hours then it just decided to die but normaly starts right back up but is not consintant. and was working on it last night and it finaly died and didnt wanna start right back up. i had very good spark and i got thinking it never dies on hills and usualy starts its fit at or below half a tank of fuel

Could there be a problem with the fuel pump? When the tank is full gravity will push fuel to the carburetor.

well i finaly figued it out. it was the ignitor. got it to do alot of dieing and found the wire was loosing power to coil so i put points back in it, runs great and doesnt die

Do you have the right fuel cap ? 4010 was vented cap and 4020 was non vented , they had a vent on top of the tank under the hood , If memory serves. Would take abt. half a tank to get enough vacume to overcome the fuel pump. after sitting it will lose vac. and start up .
