How do you repair the seat on 10,20 series
tractors to keep it from bottoming out when you
hit some bumps? Screw underneath is already turned
as far as it will go. New spring? If so, how do
you remove all of this?

This is what I did. I make no claim as to whether or not it's the best method, and frankly after I did mine, I hope somebody has a better answer for you.

I took the whole seat assembly off, since I couldn't figure out how else to get at everything.

Under the seat is a spring loaded shock absorber. You can buy the two pieces separately, but I wouldn't. You might pay an extra few dollars, but unless you have a whole lot more patience than I do, get it already assembled.

I can't remember the step-by-step process. Maybe some good Samaritan does. Just be very careful. Gloves and safety glasses are a must. I think after you see the thing exposed, you'll have an idea as to how to go about it. I took things apart, and laid them out on the bench in the order removed.

As long as you're doing it, get the spacer kit and replace all the pivot spacers and bolts that let the seat go up and down.

Good luck!!!

If your seat bottoms out check the area around the rockshaft housing where the seat suspension arms travel up and down. Very often this area gets full of dirt and limits the travel of the arms, causing the seat to "bottom". Mike
