I checked the archives and did not find anything. Is it possible to remove the starter on the pony motor without taking the engine off the tractor?Looks like I can probably break down the compression lever so it would be out of the way,but looks like there's only about an inch or inch and a half room to pull the starter back.I thank you in advance for any help.Ron

Disconnect the wires to the starter, then remove the 2 long 3/8" bolts that hold it to the pony's flywheel housing & shuffle it to the right, past the linkages.

I don't remember the exact details, but IIRC, it slips out of there somehow.

Can't remember how much (if any) sheet metal needs to be removed at the RH side of the starter, but that will become apparent after the 3/8" bolts are removed and you try to wiggle it out of there!

Once you get it out, you will be surprised how easy it is.
