I finally removed the pump today after taking every precaution possible so as not to ding the radiator. With the pump on a bench I find I cannot turn the input shaft. The question is will it be possible to rebuild this pump? I plan on taking it in to have the pros have a look but I am bracing myself in terms of another pump.

Possibility of rebuilding of pump will be determined if there are metal fines in the pump plus condition of piston bores. IIRC the shaft does not turn real easy in a good pump.
