Decal colors

Finishing up a 943 running gear. Went to put decals on and noticed how off yellow they are. They have a really bad orange tint. Are they supposed to be JD yellow? I took a photo of one of the hub caps painted with yellow paint from John Deere. Should they be closer than that?

K&K. The photo does not even show how off they are, they are much oranger than they are shown. Little disappointed as they were not cheap.

I think I'd discuss it w/ K&K; not so much as a
complaint but to get their insight. I presume they
must do quite a bit of research before launching a
product.
Just a thought....
Sure would like to see pics of the project.

Color may be off, but I have not seen numbers in
that font, or that font AND that size, on a JD
wagon of that vintage- and I own approximately a
dozen 953s.

I do have a 943- I'll have to look at that one.

It looks like they used generic yellow decal material. What stood out to me was not the color but the style of lettering. Is that accurate? I have seen many of K&K's decals that were not accurate. Close, but not right. Mike

Wow, you are right. I noticed the different font but didn't really pay attention as I couldn't get past how bad the color was. I went back and looked at photos I took before cleaning/painting and yes, the font is definitely wrong. I am pretty disappointed as they were not cheap. I decided to "do it up right" and get decals, should have just left it alone. I have contacted K&K, probably will not get a response until next week. I will update as I know more. I will also take some photos tomorrow, going to start staining wood.

I was going to but someone on here said he did not do implement decals that often and recommended K&K. I have always used Jorde for all my tractors.

K&K replied and offered to correct the font. Unfortunately the corrected decal was still too large. Was also told that was the only shade of yellow they offered. The explanation I got was "Just like the John Deere green, different sources have different ideas about color". I guess if you paint using other brands you may get that yellow. I have always gotten my paint directly from Deere, and that yellow is quite different. I have since called Trav Jorde and he does have the decals for this running gear. After he verified font and size, they are on the way. I am sure they will be the correct yellow as every tractor decal I have gotten from him in the past have been spot on. I am a little disappointed, but I guess all lessons have a cost associated.

Here is a photo of the Jorde Decal (top) and K&K (bottom). Color, font, and size are all wrong on K&K's logo.
