O.T. - Source For Large Thrust Washers???

I have a Davenport wagon running gear. This is a high wheel, steel wheel running gear with bearings. I think it was one of the first wagons made with bearings. (Made about 1904? - 1917???)
At any rate I need some thrust washers with about a 2 7/8" inside diameter and 4 1/4" outside diameter and about 1/8" thick.
I've tried Fastenal and bearing houses. I'm afraid machine shops will be pricy.
Ideas? I don't weld or cut with a torch. kelly

Hi
Do you know anybody with a plasma cutter that's good using it. They should be able to cut them close enough from plate, maybe you have a local welding shop that could do them, rather than machining. Thats a fair sized washer, and probably wouldn't be on the shelf here in my local bearing/ bolt supply company, they have massive stocks of all kinds a goodies. I think up here in Canada they also call them machine bushings, rather than washers. That might help your search to rather than using the term thrust washers or just washers.
I needed some for a Massey 1135 front axle, I could not find the exact size on the shelf. The Massey ones are custom sized, you may find that also with yours . Then maybe have to modify something a bit to that is on the shelf.

Kelly, the ID and OD dimensions of your desired thrust washer aren't "standard". But you might consider obtaining something close and then modifying as necessary. For example, check with your local bearing supplier (Motion Industries, for example) about a "Bunting" #TT4002-1 thrust washer which is made of SAE 841 sintered bronze (commonly known as "Oilite" material). That washer is 1/8" thick, 4" OD, and 2-1/16" ID. It is a stock washer for Bunting which means it should be available to a number of bearing distributors. Take the washers to your local friendly machine shop, have them chuck the washers up in their lathe and machine the ID to your desired 2-7/8" dimension. The OD is a little less than your desired 4-1/4", but it is only 1/8" per side smaller and that shouldn't make much difference.

I know you want to avoid machine shop costs, but this may be your most economical solution.
