Seepy fuel leak

My sediment bowl screws in real easy to the correct fuel line position. Too easy. I'd like to spin it in one more turn, but it gets spooky tight before it gets half way around. I tried multiple Teflon wraps - still seeped. Then I tried a Locktight product made for fuel lines, letting it cure for the full 72 hours as recommended. Better, but still has a "wet" look, and an occasional drip when the engine is shut off. (Fan helps it evaporate?) I'm thinking of adding a brass fitting between the bowl and the tank so I'd have two sets of threads to deal with. Anybody have any tricks for this situation?

What I have used on those for years is the HARDENING variety of permatex. You also want this on the tapered pipe fitting at the carb. line because if you run the tapered fitting in too tight it will crack the carb. bowl casting ! Learned that lesson the hard way.

They also make a non-hardening variety I also keep on hand for other things.

Yes,, and some times a "different" fitting will tighten up in a different location,,a 1/8" swivel fitting will work out good too, it will let you stop and tighten where ever you want. They are pipe thread on each end, most hardware's have them.

Two good ideas, and quick too.

I think I'll try both of them at the same time.

Thanks Tim and Mike.

I have taken a tap and worked the hole until you get the bowl around the last turn with the right tension on the threads. A little tapping and retry in the bowl.

I think most are 1/4 inch national pipe.

I'm not an 'original only' type,
so I routinely use your 2 fittings idea, carb and tank.
I just can't afford to risk a good tank or carb, always $, sometimes flat out impossible to find.
Tighten the extra fitting in good, and then keep a wrench on it when tightening the whatever in. Ruin anything then, it will just be cheap stuff.
If that's not possible because of clearance issues, I tighten the bowl in to where it's leakproof, and then tweak the gasline if needed.
Cuz as you have seen, tighten a soft pipe fitting in just a little too far just once, and then try to 'back off' even a tad for alignment......it'll leak

Edit, and for other jobs, (not gas tanks and carbs, too delicate)
if I need to 'chain' fittings, I tape and snug them all down pretty tight, and then put the serious tighten on the outermost one only. The fittings will pick among themselves which can take just a little more to get the alignment I want.
