'41 B Starting Problems

I know this problem has been asked and answered before, but here goes. My brother has a '41 B, S/N 100220, that has a starting problem.

It will fire once when cranked and then nothing. Pull-starting does the trick and then it runs fine.

Any sure-fire solutions from the experts on here?

Thanks. I'll pass that on to my brother. He did recently replace the broken "impulse spring" (my terminology) and the points, condenser and coil are fairly new.

Sounds like a classic case of impulse coupling blues to me. The mag should make a distinct click when cranking by hand. Do you have good hot spark when cranking? If not, remove the mag and repair the impulse coupling. With the mag off the tractor rotate the drive lug with a wrench, you should feel resistance from the spring and have a good hot blue spark when the impulse coupling trips.
