Hey all. I just put a block heater on my Deere 5045d and lost about a gallon of coolant. I went to my local dealer told them what I had and they gave me 2 gals on cool-garde II PG and I get home and I open it ready to fill the tractor and its bright blue! My antifreeze in the tractor is green/yellow. The tractor is only a year old so it's what came in it but am I ok to mix the two? Thanks!

Well I think I answered my own question. The pg stands for propylene glycol and it will mix but changes the makeup of the coolant so it won't work as efficiently. So I'm hoping even tho it's opened my Deere dealer will take it back and swap it out for the standard cool-gard II

I bought Fleet Charge at TSC for my 2040 because it contains something to counteract detonation in diesel engines. It is purple. After using the tractor, it started to run hot. I drained about a quart of brown sludge from the radiator, but it still runs on the warm side of the gauge. I'm not sure the Fleet Charge caused the problem, but the problem sure started when I added it into the radiator.

new antifreeze may have a detergent in it and thats what loosened up the old sludge from years in the block - radiator it the place it will collect - you may need to get your rad flushed and steamed to restore cooling capacity ...
