4020 broken vibration dampener

The 4020 vibration dampener is broken out where the bolts from the hydraulic pump coupler go in. Have you seen this before, or have ideas on why this happened?

Probably loose bolts.

Typically, they are Loctited and a bear to get out.

Maybe yours weren't that tight!

Did the coupler studs just unscrew or did they bust the threaded bosses on the pulley? If the pulley is busted, then your hydraulic pump locked up.

I believe these are the correct parts for a 1966.

Dampener AR58172 (1)
Screws R34360 (4)
Bushings R45822 (4)

I will get ordered if so.

Can the pump lock up and unlock?

It can if it hydraulically locked. Did it happen when you started the engine, or were you using the hydraulics?

No Clue, noticed it looked weird a few days ago, checked it out this morning. I would think the only way pump could lock up if stroke control stuck closed.

I personally from my experience think the hyd pump can't hydraulically lock up. I had a 4430 with a special contraption furnished by JD that would temporarily spike the stand-by pressure so as this tractor could raise a heavy 7 row rear flex bedder. The device malfunctioned and blew out the rockshaft piston housing. JD service reps told me the limiting factor of the amount of PSI the 8 piston hyd pump could attain was the size of the engine pulling the pump.
