1947 john deere MT

3-point for MT was never available from the factory but others have fabricated one and put it on. Maybe someone will post pictures.

"NO" you cannot install a three point hitch on a 1947 MT John Deere tractor.
The reason you can't, is because they didn't start building the MT till the 1949 model year.

Take a look at the photos below of "Sparky" our 1951 M.

We had three more "hitches" built for our three 51MTs.

the guy said the serial # is 12538 , and he did list it for 1947, his mistake, aside from that year correction, can you put a 3 point on a 1949 mt ?

When you listed it as a 1947 MT I thought it was a trick question, like a time someone ask if one can put a three point hitch on a 1950 H John Deere
"YES" you can put a 3-point on a MT, I had one a few years ago, but it doesn't wyrk very good, especially with a plow, no load and depth control.
It was OK with a back blade or a rotary-cutter.

We took the "hitch" off of "Sparky" and took it to Performance Trailer in Mt. Pleasant, TX.

They built three hitches for our three MTs.

Cost averaged out at about $80 per hitch.

(quoted from post at 13:33:35 09/20/14) We took the "hitch" off of "Sparky" and took it to Performance Trailer in Mt. Pleasant, TX.

Thinking about putting one on my MT, just wondering how much they can lift

Take a look at the photo below of "Sparky" our 51M.

This Bush Hog FTH 600 (5ft) finishing mower is used to mow the yard and around the shop.

We have a second Bush Hog FTH 600 (5ft) finishing mower on "Audie" our 1954 Model 40 Standard.

a169350.jpg" width="650"

The second mower pictured above was used first with "Rusty" one of our 1951 MTs to mow the pasture in Hutchins, TX.

The mower was later used with "Sam" another one of our 1951 MTs to mow the perimeter of several hay fields.

This mower weighs approximately 560 pounds.

Both of the MTs could lift the mower with no problem.

The front end got a little light, but never came off the ground.

Hope this helps.

some of the disks I was looking at weigh around 800lb so what do you think? Maybe with front wheel weights?

Take a look at the diagram below.

a169362.jpg" width="650"

Two of the front wheel weights would add 130 lbs to the front end.

You might also consider front and side weights for a Model 40T.

a169363.jpg" width="650"

If these weights will fit on the MT, then this would add 311 lbs to the front end.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the pics James.
My B and 40T have 3-points, but your design with a mod here and there looks like it will work fine on some AC's and Farmalls I'm converting.
(BTW, I've stumbled across some of your videos when researching
my 40. Very nice tractors ya got there)

I figure that photos in the operator's manual, parts manual, and service manual are there for a good reason.

When working on a tractor, taking photos helps me remember how things were done.

Glad you enjoy our videos; there are several for out two Model Bs and a lot for our Model 40T.
