2640 3 point hitch

I think there is a problem developing with my thre point hitch. when the 3 point is left in the up position if the tractor is shut off should the hitch not stay raised mine over time will end up going down over a period of time even if nothing is attached. Is this an indication the rings on the rockshaft are going bad. Any thoughts or advice.

Lowering of a raised 3 pt with engine off could indicate leaking control valves or RS piston seal. With 3 pt raised,engine running look in hyd filler hole for spraying hyd oil which indicates a massive leak.

How long does it take to settle from the full up position to the full down position? If it takes more than an hour, I wouldn't worry about it. It's normal for a 3-point to settle with the engine off. If it settles with the engine running, then you have a problem.
