B Flatback cover

What is the significance/desirability/collectability/originality of
the center fill vs side fill cover. What was original on 38 long
frame? Thanks

Nothing, back in the day if people didn't have use for a PTO shaft or a lift they would order a flat back tractor, me thinks it might have been a little sheeper.

Perhaps I wasn't 'clear on my question. On flatback b's(no lift) there are two distinctive covers out there. One has the fill plug on the side, the other has a center fill plug. They have identical casting numbers.

"Tractors not equipped with power lift used one of two styles of B306R ( AB2519R)rear covers. The very first ones made in 1938 and some later manufactured during 1939, used a cover with the oil filter (sic) positioned on the right side. All others used the style with the filler positioned over the power shaft"
This is a quote from Two-Cylinder magazine July/August 1996 parenthesis are mine.
