I have a 16 ft hooper 3 1/2 ton dovetail trailer with tandem axle. I want to mount a ball on the drawbar of my 1952 john deere 'a'. its for a parade and will have 10 to 15 people on it. any one know if that would be to much tongue weight for that draw bar ?????

We use to pull a 18 ft tandem behind a 36 A JD to haul square bales. We would load around 100-120 bales and had no trouble. A lot heavier than 15 people

Slide the drawbar in close and short and it will hold a lot of weight. Used to pull a 5x12 Kelly Ryan manure spreader heaped clear full with my 51 A and the drawbar held up with no problem as long as it was in the short position. Had the drawbar out long once and the load from the spreader bent it a little. Jim

If the Front end gets light, you have too much weight on the Drawbar and need to add some Front-end weight..!

If it feels like it suddenly has Power Steering, the front end is getting lighter..

Careful if you shorten the drawbar up as it makes it a lot easier to catch the trailer with a tire when you turn. Don't have to turn very sharp either. You will not over load the hitch doing what you plan on doing.
