3010 Zenith Carburetor

I have a 3010 gas where the carburetor has been an issue for the last year. A fuel line filter was added; the tractor had sat. This helped and for awhile the tractor ran "ok". On an occasion or two the float seems to have stuck, or at least the problem was solved by tapping the carb. Now the carb. seems to be really overloading with fuel and no amount of tapping helps.
I took the carb off today thinking I would buy a kit to rebuild it. The JD RE528752 (different number than you will find on line) kit is $97.
I also notice on the JD site many of the parts for a Zenith carb. are NLA. Here are my questions:
1. What is your experience with the JD kit? Do the parts contained in the kit satisfy the need to refurbish that carb.? Or, will I be faced with needing additional NLA parts?
2. A rebuild from All States Parts ASAP is $750 minus, I assume, a $200 core. Might this be a better route than the $97 rebuild kit or is the $97 route equally good.
I would appreciate comments and suggestions. Paul
 
Thanks Bob. I looked over the process of rebuilding this carb. in a 4020 Service Manual. There are some special tools and of course the complexity of doing it the first time. Thanks for the link, I will be calling them Monday. Paul.
 
I second the Roberts carb suggestion. You will not be disappointed in there carb. They are wonderful and knowledgable people to deal with. I have bought 2 of there carbs 1 for a 4020 and 1 for a 3020 and wouldn't hesitate to buy more. The fuel savings alone will pay for the carb in short order.
 
I"ve had two JD two cylinder carbs rebuilt by Mike Stanley at Popin John. Mike does outstanding work and is fast to return your carb. Both carbs were ready to use and I never even had to adjust them. Highly recommended. I have rebuilt a lot of carbs myself but Mike does a better job of cleaning out the mystery passages and setting up the floats, etc. Give Mike a call at 845-626-5870.
