JD 2555 GB 4x4 trans

First of all let me say I grew on the farm. I"m considered by some an expert machine operator. I have pretty good repair/ mechanic skills. I do also realize that I mostly caused my own problem.

Can"t get the JD 2555 SGB 4x4 to shift into 1, 2, 5, 6th gears. I mostly caused this problem forcing the tractor into 1st w/o clutch (I know believe me) while finishing baling a field when the clutch master cylinder failed a couple of years ago. The master cylinder was repaired back then and works fine now. I noticed extra grinding when putting in 1st or 5th initially. It eventually affected 6th/2nd. Looking as always to buy some time, corn chopping for now, if possible. There are bolts on the 4 corners of the plate where the shafts enter on the side of the trans (SGB). Has anyone out there attempted repair of this type, or am I headed to the shop?

Thanks Harvey

My guess is you broke the tab off that is welded to the end of the shift rail. I've seen them welded back on but the cab is going limit accessibility working through floor plate (parts key 4) hole.

Jim; can you post the page(s) from the parts catalog of the shifter shafts. Remember this is a SGB tractor so there is more linkage. I am thinking Harvey has a partially sheared pin in the linkage somewhere.

OOPS I made a mistake. Thanks for correcting me. I never witnessed one of those being repaired before I left the JD dealer
