420c high oil pressure

I recently got a 420c from my grandfather. Did an oil change and it was quite sludgy in the filter housing. It runs great but the oil pressure is measuring pretty high. The machine has only about 400 hours on it. Should I get a new guage maybe theres sludge in it? Run it and see if it improves? Any input would be great. I'm an international man just took this in to keep it in the family

What is the actual pressure in psi with a known accurate gauge ?
iirc there is a washer and spring that gets lost on the first oil filter change on those . Which lets oil bypass around the filter.
The parts book on the JD web site will show if anything is missing.
external link carries the spring, washer and gasket.

I would have to check to pressure but if I remember the spring
and washer were there

I doubt if I invented the trick of sending that washer to the landfill.

They were available aftermarket. I foggily recall I got a replacement from John Shepard.

Hope yours is still there
