I went and bought two new bushings for 97.00 !went to put one in and it almost falls through ! Is there anything that I can do or get another rod ? Any ideas Thanks Mark

NOS or aftermarket?

If NOS and made to correct dimensions the rod may have been resized by a machine shop because of wear, and they had a bushing that would fit properly and could be honed to fit the wrist pin.

There's all sorts of repairs that have been done to this old stuff, and if done by an experienced machinist, there should be no problems.

From where you are at, finding a guy/shop like that would be a godsend to you!

I keep telling myself, watch my expectations, in just a couple more decades this stuff will be 100 years old.

Sometimes the bushings get beat out and wear the rod.
When I run into that on the later, higher rpm, higher hp engines I replace the rods.
I have an H down with a rod that the bushing was loose and I intend to replace the rod.
I don't see why you couldn't resize the rod and have a brass bushing made to fit though.

Wow you really got taken on the bushings!!
Call Henry @ H&J machine Carrington ND he sells them for $28 a set & can make any size you need (fix the rod)
