Jd2520 weights

Gentleman, I may have a crazy question, but a would like to
know the answer.
I've been looking for front weights for my JD2520. Yesterday I
was at a farm auction down by Allentown, Pa. They had the
starter weights and five flat weights. I bought them all as a
set, that's the way they were sold.
My question, what is the maximum amount of flat weights that
can be mounted for a JD2520. The starter weights are
singles, not doubles. I have the big rims and tires on the
tractor. I'm not sure that I want to install all of these weights.
Thanks. Al

Al ,make sure to use proper bolts as the casting is what holds them.Thats one of the reason for the double stack system. Not to disagree but for some reason I was told 7 is max.I have seen several with the ears broke off casting so there is a limit.I have seen them break off at tractor pulls if front bounces.I would think 5 would be plenty for most any job unless you have fully mounted plow or roll over plow

Used to run 12 on 4020 tricycle plowing. No problems. This was before double stack came out.

My late 4020 operator's manual mentions 7 weights as the maximum for a single stack set. That is what I have on mine. It's been that way for many years. You DO want to use good quality bolts to hang the weights. I get mine from the local Deere dealer. Mike

Those flat weights are about 80-85#'s. I would weight the tractor based on your need. For example weight the front to maintain steering control both in transit and while working with an implement.
This spring I put a rollover plow on my 4320. Lucky I had the double weight bracket, I had to add eight of those flat weights to be able to steer. The plow was a 4600 JD rollover, 3-18" bottoms per side.
I plan to remove some of the weights for pulling wagons for harvest. Paul
