Marvel Schebler USX 32-1

I am getting to much fuel in the engine, smoked my self out of the shop heavy gas exhaust. I turned the high speed screw in all the way and the engine doesn't even skip a beat, keeps right on going. The engine has a mechanical fuel pump. I am wondering is the accelerator pump shot? And that is allowing to much fuel in. Any suggestions? Would there be a better solution for a carb on that tractor.

Most likely the accelerator pump diaphragm has failed and is leaking gas. It's is a common problem with the USX carburetors as they get old.

A complete rebuild - including a new diaphragm (which is NOT included with many rebuild kits) - is the only solution. Or replace it with a Zenith as Mike suggests.
