John Deere B sn202247 power take off leak

Restoration - power take off leaked. installed new seal. still leaks. trying to take shaft out of tractor to check gaskets, seals, and other parts to find out what is causing the leak. I can only pull the Power Take off housing/shaft out about 1/2". Feels like it is hitting something but I don't find it? Can anyone help me? Thanks, Bob

You can't find the ORIG CHIC0GO RAW HIDE seal, but put 2 lip seals, avail from DEERE in the housing, reversing the 2nd 1. Most of the time the shaft needs to be built up and returned .

To get the PTO shaft out you have to remove the complete rockshaft house and then remove one snap ring on the forward side.

Old seals have worn a groove in the PTO shaft. Talk to someone at NAPA or another good parts house about a Redi-Sleeve. It's a thin sleeve you drive onto the shaft to the area where the seal rides.

I use 2 seals but with both spring loaded lips to the oil side to double up the sealing chances.
