3010 side counsel??

New to the forum, seeing there is lots of knowledge and good general discussion here, looking to get in on the action.

Have a bit of a project we're gathering parts for right now planning to do this winter, this is what we're planning on doing here. Have a 3010 gas tractor with a bad engine, through some horse trading acquired a very low hour 239 engine with a turbo on it. From looking on here I think I know the large parts we need, 2510/2520 frame rails, pump stand, and bell housing adapter from a 4030. The problem is the SCV valve under the hood, it will be in the way of the turbo as it sits now. So talking with a friend of mine he suggested taking the valve and making it a side counsel tractor. I don't think it will be that difficult to do, looking over the tractor.

My question is has anybody done this? Made a 3010/4010 or early 3020/4020 a side counsel like this? Has anybody else seen this engine conversion into a 3010/3020 either? Thanks in advance

The 239 will fit with enough conversion parts. It will make a nice 3020.

It is called a CONSOLE because the hydraulics will be on the CONSOLE rather than the dash. It would be possible to move the SCV with plenty of rigging but I'm not sure it would be worth it. The 239 without a turbo would still be pretty strong and would fit nicely under the hood.

Yeah I hear ya, might take a little to get it all to work. What I planned on is making a mount along side the right hand of the seat and just running hoses for pressure and return to the valve and then hoses to the couplers. May take a little engineering to make it look good too. Just wondering if somebody else has tried to do this before.

IIRC Tim S has moved scv control valves from in front of firewall to RH side of the seat. He also moved rockshaft control lever on dash. Maybe he will post the photo's again.

I expect there were 239s with with their turbos in different locations. Would that be a good alternate approach?

Here is a photo of a 4010 with the hyd's moved to the right side.

I did it on my 68 4020 but I left the valves in place. One thing you might be able to do is find a top plate off a console 3020. Might be cost prohibitive, but I've heard of that done before on 4020s.
