Replaced a weak pony with a kit from Abiliene Machine today-- kit fit nice and worked well. 850 plus freight ,
I had the pump and injectors done. She sounds great and I made a 81 year old man smile and he was still smiling while he wrote the check, now I get to rebuild the Float Ride Seat

Get the "Float Ride seat TorsionSpring Tool set" made by Sunsdahl to rebuild the seat. Makes things alot easier to attach the adjusting handle. $38.00 plus shipping. sunsdahltooling.com

Drops the re-sale price of the tractor and now the sheet metal, levers and dash don't match.
She may start in summer but lets try that 12V starter the middle of next winter.
No mention of the actual starter model, Kw and battery capacity.

To each there own but I don't see the point of doing it. It costs
close to 1100 hundred bucks by the time you buy batteries for it.
Spend a couple hundred bucks more and you can have the pony motor rebuilt and ready for another 50+ years of use and it is still all original.
My 720 diesel runs a 10-71 swing auger and sometimes harvest runs long like last year and you have to start her up when the temps are around zero. The pony will get it fired up I have my doubts the electric start would. JMO

Dave,

they are right when they say to each their own, but i say GOOD on you for making an 81 year old man smile, at the end of the of day thats all that counts. I doubt he was worried about the resale value.

If that old pony motor needs a new home you let me know, i have a couple diesels that could use one haha

Thank you!
He won't sell it (I tried to trade him out of it) He is happy as a kid with a new toy. No one wanted to work on the old thing at his JD dealer, It has set in the back corner of his shed the last 5 years. He is coming to our plow day next month. Be good for him and the 720
