4020 injection pump replace

I got a john Deere 4020 that won"t start. I"m pretty sure the injection pump went out.

When I would accelerate the tractor it had a slow response, now it won"t start. I opened up the lines from the fuel pump to the injectors and cranked it and saw no diesel coming out, I am getting fuel all the way up to the pump.

Is it my pump that"s gone bad? If so, how do I time it to replace the pump?

Try to start it with the timing window off,,if it will run that way the coupling is going bad, and the return fitting is clogged, if this is the case you can remove the check ball and spring out of the return fitting and run it for a while, knowing that a pump O/H is in the future. As for timing the pump it is one of the easier ones,, remove the timing window, and the little timing mark cover near the brake pedal, then using a screw driver turn the engine till the marks on the pump line up and the TDC marks line up on the fly wheel, the pump turns once for every 2 times the engine turns.
