7800 fly wheel to gear box shalt

Our 7800 has a slight rattle in it at an idle i have heard the uni's in the shaft between fly wheel and gear box do have a habit of seizing. i do not think this is the case but there seams to be more play in the coupling on the gearbox input shaft than we think should be there. Would the coupler be softer material than the input shaft to gear box an be worn? hope it isant gearbox shaft or thats guna be big job to replace. Does any one have experience with this big job or what. Dont look like fun. 8500 hrs so we would prob change uni's out to while going

Yes I have changed the shaft end, it is a bit softer, It's not a bad job to change, replace both u-joints while you have it out..
