To sell or not and How to if yes

Lately Dad and I are thinking we have too many tractors to keep running. We don't use them as much as we'd like to anymore and things aren't getting cheaper to keep operational. So on to business. We have: 830EL, 730D EL, 2 730LP's, 630 through 430W and then a 420U and a 320S. 9 total. Nothing we have is super rare, but the 320 is a slant steer that is 14th from end of production. All the 730's have wfe and all 730 through 530 have complete 3pts. The 420 is just a all green early model. The 430W has a direction reverser and HD fenders, but nothing else special.
We think we'd like to keep the 830, the 430, and one of the 730's, but wonder if the lot would bring better money, or does it matter? The neighbor also has a couple of early numbered models he wants to sell, so maybe an auction? There are no parade queens in the lot, but all are as mechanically sound as we can make them to our ability. So what say you all? Auction, or just advertise the ones we want to pass along? Thanks for your input.

An auction is if you want to liquidate in one day and get "ok" prices. 7 am, you own 9 tractors. 2 pm, you own a check that is guaranteed to be good. No tire kickers, no "I'll gladly pay you tuesday...", no lowballers, no bad checks, no leftovers. BUT, the auctioneer gets his cut, and the crowd gets to decide what your item is worth.

You could throw and ad up on here and CL with good pictures of all the tractors and the prices you want for each of them. You could list them all and pull the ad when 5 or 6 of them sell. You're more likely to get more per tractor, but you have a risk of bad checks, tire kickers, lowballers, etc. It'll also be more time consuming - setting up meeting times, having people nitpick your stuff, it may take weeks or months to sell them.

If you don't need the money and have the time to do it, I think posting ads and selling them as buyers come forward is the better option...

I think auction or ebay, no reserve and the good old people of the u.s. tell you really what they are worth once you find out you might not want to sell them but the facts are they are what they are and will bring what the highest bidder offers.once this is done hope you don't want to change your mind on selling.good luck, rick

Auctions almost always bring top dollar. It really doesn't matter what the auctioneer charges, the extra money he will get over what you could sell them for will more than pay his fee.

I would try photo ads on Yesterdays Tractors.,Ads in Green Magazine and Two-Cyl are both inexpensive and get to 2CYL people .I would stay away from e-bay.530s still sell good .There is a buyer for most anything at a realistic price.Auctions take a lot of time and aren't cheap.

Auction, for sure. I've yet to go to an auction, especially with multiple tractors were the either the highlight or the only thing auctioned where the seller could hardly keep the smile off his face. Always a win for the seller, always.
No I'm not an auctioneer.
