i purchased the conversion kit from yesterday. straight forward until you get to the brown and blue wires for the starter. where do they go. instructions say" put them back on stater" mine were on the relays on the stater. any one know? thanks

And to add to that you can keep the little circuit breakers in the mix for a little added protection..these 2 wires continue up to the switch to make "Batt A" and "Batt B", and need to be in place on the light switch and the key switch, this divides up the load to 2 different entry points of the switch, yours should all be in place with the 24 volt system.

Glad Tx and Tim have ya covered, to expand on Tims post and to help you or others understand, here's my take. I think on early models those circuit breakers weren't used??? As Tim noted the 2 small wires up to the light switch (on old system) were both 12 volts (to operate 12 volt lights), however one was from the + of one battery and the other from the - of the other battery. Those big cables up from batteries to the starter and solenoid were similar and it was 24 volts between them as the Starter (and Genny) were electrically isolated and insulated and floating off frame ground and NOT Positive or Negative (for that matter) Grounded.

Now since youre at a single 12 volt source, both those old feeds up to the switch need to be present so ALL the lights work and that's why they are tied as Tx Jim told you.

If I'm wrong maybe Jim or Tim can correct me as New Generation isn't my best subject but I do try to help best I can.
