3950 chopper adding a cracker plate

We've been looking at adding a "Cracker Plate" made by kooima Co. to our 3950 chopper.
Has anyone tried one? How well do they work? The ad claims 80-90% broken kernels. Is there a noticeable power requirement? Feedback from someone with insight/experience would be great
Thanks

Recutter screens always take more power. The determining factor is how small the slots in it are and keeping it ajusted to the cutterhead.

I'll add this insight- a kernel processor, while more expensive, will do a much better job and offer a quick return on investment. You'll end up with crushed kernels, no cob pieces the cows don't eat, and you can still run a longer length of cut to offer more effective fiber. I believe Horning Mfg makes one to fit your chopper.

Good luck!
