D with Detroit

There is a couple guys that claim they have a D with a Detroit diesel two cylinder in it, they tell me the tractor is an industrial tractor painted yellow. Does any of this make sence? I have never herd of such a thing

Have them produce evidence of the fact or dismiss it with a grain of salt.
A long time ago I learned to never say never, cause someone will prove you wrong.
Yust cause you never heard of an item or saw one doesn"t say anything. I have never saw an atom bomb, but they say there is such a contraception.

I would think that a 2-53 in a D would be going backwards. I like the way mine sounds but a D with dual stacks would sound better. I think it may what you say, that it is a 440. Or it could be something like Darrel Fischer has.

I have never seen or heard of a 'D ' with a detroit. However Mother Deere did build and sell a "435" and a 440 industrial and dozer with the 2-53 detroit. It was made and sold from april 59 thru March 1960. I collect and restore Deere tractors but cannot recal the number made. I have one of the cheaper versions. It is mouthy, slobbers as all detroits did then, and a real powerful tractor. The engines were put in front of a 430 tranny and diff.and loved to strip rear ends if pulled hard.
