So I've finally got around to working on my 38 A that I got from my grandparents (was there first tractor on the farm) it has basically been sitting for around 30 plus years, and got it running last weekend. Once it started up I knew there was something wrong with the governor as it just wants to race away, well I got in to it today and found the left cover bearing toast, also the fan gear just about to round off, and the weights were hitting the case. My question being is there really only the one left side cover bearing or did the right side one disappear? I notice the shaft was rubbing on the case a little but not too too bad, but what controls the right side shaft play? I didn't see any oil getting up on the right side, directly behind the magneto, just some metal shavings and whatnot. Lastly what size is the bushing for the fork shaft (the one pressed into the too of the governor housing)? Thanks, Tony
