mixing Hy tran-Hygard in small amounts

I have a Westendorf box scraper that I pull with a 4650 Deere and an IH 1086, depending on which tractor is available. It has two 3X8 cylinders, one for the raise and one for the tilt. This introduces a small amount of the wrong oil into both tractors. Can a small amount be mixed without adverse affects? It's switched between tractors maybe four times a year with the primary tractor being the 4650. I do change hyd oil yearly in both tractors and I use CIH brand HY Tran in the red one and Deere branded Hy Gard in the green one. This is the only implement shared by both tractors. Thanks, Jim

It won't ever hurt you especially if you change
the hydraulic oils regularly . I've mixed hy gard
and hy tran lots of times . I would probably
change the red one over to hy gard if it was me

If the red one can be switched to hy gard safely that's the route I would like to take. The red tractor is the only one that uses hytran at the moment. Considering the mega thousands it costs to do any kind of work inside a more modern tractor today I'm being very careful not to do anything wrong. Jim

Recommended for equipment with either common system reservoirs or separate transmission and hydraulic systems, including those with wet brakes and wet clutches.

I thought I heard once that you can use hy gard in a red one but you are courting disaster if you use hy tran in a green one.

Whenever the hy tran barrel runs out I'll consider using hy gard in the red one. My biggest concern is that pesky TA but I don't use the red one for heavy work anymore, it's a loader tractor now so maybe, just possibly the TA won't lay down on me any time soon. Thanks for the suggestions. Jim

I always "thought" that they were compatible with each other, but never knew for sure. My Brothers use a BP transmission oil that has worked out for them for 25 years, using it in 4020's up through 4960's and 9400's with good result. I am not sure of the price but I will look into it, they get it bulk.

When I was all red, I was a fanatic about using nothing but HyTran. When I started to get some green ones with wet clutch and brakes in the fleet I used HyGard in the green ones and changed the red ones to HyGard also.
