3 point mower for 1983 JD 1250

Those are kind of a rare tractor. Don't hear much about them. What for HP is it rated ? Might not be many people with real world seat time to give real world advice.

Also a mower can be sort of hard to figure maximum size because it all depends on how high and what type of stuff you are trying to knock down. Plus some mowers take more power than others higher lift blades take more power and so would a flail type mower.

Thanks. The best I can tell is it's a 44 HP, with about 40 at the PTO. Tractor is in good shape, running great.

I use a JD LX-5 (5' model) with my JD 850, which is 23 HP. The MX-5 cutter was too heavy for the tractor - it made the front end too light. It handles the 5" cutter Ok but there is no extra power.

In the 1984 650-1650 sales brochure Deere specified
up to a 6-ft model 609 cutter for the 1250. The 7-
ft size required the 1450 or 1650.

Thanks, everyone. I put a 6' on it, and working great! I will be looking around for a procedure on how to adjust the top bar length of the 3-point hitch, and the back wheel height of the mower, etc, for the proper positioning of the mower. If anyone knows of that procedure, let me know! Thanks.
